Female eco-entrepreneur awarded for taking on carbon market

Jane Burston, Director and Founder of Carbon Retirement, has been named in Management Today’s 2011 “35 under 35” list of talented female leaders in UK business – announced in The Sunday Times yesterday.

Carbon Retirement leverages the EU Emissions Trading Scheme, an international market in which industries buy and sell “pollution permits”, to bring positive change to the voluntary carbon offset market.

Carbon Retirement celebrates Future Leader award City style

We're delighted to announce that Carbon Retirement's founder Jane Burston has been named one of Square Mile magazine’s 30 Future Leaders under 30 and won a suprise award in the Social Enterprise category.

The list of 30 award winners was released at an evening reception on Friday 25th March, where Jane also received her special award for Social Enterprise.

Carbon Retirement Director in Red hot list!

Carbon Retirement Director Jane Burston has been named one of the UK's most influential young women.

Jane was highlighted as a leading "eco-innovator" in Red Magazine's '20 under 30 hot list' because of Carbon Retirement's fresh and highly effective approach to offsetting.

Joining her on the list is Sheridan Smith, the lead in the West End's Legally Blonde, the Tory's youngest MP Chloe Smith, and playwright Bola Agbaje.

Carbon Retirement named a Smarta 100 business

Carbon Retirement has been chosen by a judging panel including Deborah Meaden and other leading entrepreneurs such as Bebo Founder Michael Birch as a winner of Smarta.com’s inaugural ‘Smarta 100’, and was also selected as one of the ‘Top 5 for Ethics’ from companies included in the list.

The Smarta 100 aims to uncover remarkable small businesses that have gone the extra mile to differentiate themselves from the market or found clever ways to compete, from their marketing plan to their ethical stance.

Carbon Retirement in 'Future 100'

Carbon Retirement director Dan Lewer has been named as a 'Future 100 Ethical Entrepreneur' by the British Library and enterprise organisation Striding Out. Speaking at the award ceremony, Dan called for greater transparency in the voluntary offsetting market, and applauded the Future 100 founders for their efforts in bringing recognition to socially and environmentally motivated companies.

Carbon Retirement wins UnLtd award for social enterprise

Carbon Retirement has been named a winner of the UnLtd Award for Social Enterprise. UnLtd is a charity that supports ‘people who want to change the world for the better’. They do this by providing a complete package of funding and support, and we're really pleased that they have chosen to support us. Jo Hill, Level 2 Awards Development Manager at UnLtd, said, "The competition for Level 2 awards is always really tough, with lots of brilliant and visionary applicants. We selected Carbon Retirement because they have an innovative idea that has a clear differentiation in the market.
